Entertainers and the Entertained Hardcover – November 15, 1986 by John Houseman
From Library Journal
A generous helping of essays by a redoubtable man of the theater: thirty-four magazine articles, contributions to books, book reviews, and two speeches. Approximately 90 percent of this material has been in print previously in periodicals and in the three volumes of Houseman's memoirs ( Run-Through, Front and Center, and Final Dress). Most of the subject matter selected is predictablethe Federal Theatre, Mercury Theatre, Hollywood days, The Paper Chase. Houseman writes in a clear, direct prose style and was, of course, an active participant in most of the events of which he writes. Nevertheless, libraries with collections that include the New York Times , Harper's , and Houseman's memoirs need not consider. Theodore O. Wohlsen, Jr., Connecticut State Lib., Hartford
